Notaries Public

Our Adult Services Reference librarians provide free notary public service to the community.

The purpose of notarization is to prevent fraud and forgery. A notary acts as an official and unbiased witness to the identity of person who comes before the notary for a specific purpose.

  • Please don't sign your documents before you come to the Library — we need to see you sign your documents.

  • Each person signing the document must be present for us to notarize that signature.

  • A picture ID with your signature is required so that we can verify your identity. This is the purpose of notarization.

  • If your document requires witnesses as well as your own signature and notarization, please bring sufficient people willing to serve as your witnesses with you.

A notary public is almost always available when the Library is open. Come to the Satellite Reference Desk on the first floor or the main Reference Desk on the second floor.

Please call us at 367-4405 if you have any questions.
