Who were your ancestors and what were their lives like? Carolyn Adams of the Champaign County Historical Archives will show you how to research census data, as well as state, federal, and international records, on paper and online.

Genealogy Clues in U.S. Census Records

Does your ancestor appear the same way on every census record? Have you ever used census records to solve questions about immigration and military service? Cherié Weible will show you how to find genealogical clues in the “Special Schedules” of federal and state censuses, including Agriculture, Slave, Veterans, and Mortality Schedules.

Prerequisite: Introduction to Genealogy or permission from instructor.

Learn how to use a variety of resources to establish when your house was built, who owned and resided in it, and how former residents lived their lives. Ilona Matkovszki will show you a variety of helpful resources including: deed records, government land sale records, city directories, maps, atlases, court records, census data, and architectural styles.
